Pencil Portraits for the Holidays

December is the time of year I do pencil portraits. People want to give their loved ones something unique and creative so they commission me for a portrait. I did these from photographs with nothing more than #2 and #5 graphite pencils, and a kneaded eraser on acid-free paper.

Hi Mara, Ashley and I were checking out Janna's and your artwork, and we were both saying how insanely amazing it is. Ashley was screaming "oh come on! oh my goodness...how do they do that??....they are so realistic...they look like photographs!". Just wanted you to know we were blown away with your talent, and Janna's too. Hope all is well! You two have such a gift!
Love ya, Ruthann

Thank you so much - you don't know how nice your comments make my day!
Do you recognize these little kids? They are Cameron and Brittany!

You definitely captured the essence of these two little boogers. Don't know how you do it. :)

You do know how! - You've done it with Humphry Bogart!

It is my dream to own a piece of your art in 2009. You are such a gifted artist. I need to have you draw a picture of Bridget. I have one of Lucy and Phoebe, but I need one of Bridget. I love looking at all of your beautiful paintings. I am amazed at the detail you capture. God richly bless your talent. Love to you, Ursula

Thank you, Ursula. Lucy, Phoebe, and Bridget are precious! We don't see them (or you) enough! I ran into them at the International Gift Fair in San Marcos. Love to you and Happy New Year! Mara
